Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

When you opt in to gameplay data collection, we collect anonymous gameplay telemetry, including:

• A randomly generated player ID (not linked to your Steam account, email, or real identity)
• A session ID generated each time you launch the game
• Gameplay events: run starts/ends, night results, stat snapshots, perk selections, shop purchases, level-ups, and shrine unlocks
• Basic device info: device model, platform (e.g., Windows), game version
• Timestamps of events

We do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or Steam account information
• Your IP address (our server does not log IPs)
• Payment or financial information
• Advertising or tracking identifiers
• Chat messages, screenshots, or any user-generated content

2. Why We Collect It

We use gameplay telemetry to:

• Balance the game — identify stats, relics, or upgrades that are too strong or too weak
• Improve progression pacing — understand where players get stuck, stop playing, or skip content
• Fix bugs — detect impossible stat values, missing items, or broken quest states
• Prioritize development — understand which features players engage with most

3. Your Consent

Data collection is entirely optional and requires your explicit consent.

• On first launch, you will be asked whether to allow gameplay data collection
• You can change your choice at any time in Settings
• If you decline or revoke consent, no data is collected and gameplay is unaffected

4. How We Store and Protect Your Data

• Data is transmitted over HTTPS to a secure cloud backend (Convex, hosted in the United States)
• Data is associated only with your random player ID — we cannot identify you from it
• We retain gameplay data for up to 12 months, after which it is aggregated or deleted
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties
• We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes

5. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data associated with your player ID
• Deletion — request that we delete all data associated with your player ID
• Withdraw consent — turn off data collection at any time in Settings

6. Data Deletion

If you wish to have your data deleted:

1. Open Settings in-game and note your player ID (displayed near the analytics toggle), or
2. Email us at anchorheadgames@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request"

We will delete all events associated with your player ID from our systems within 30 days.

7. Children

The Game is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through the Game, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the data collection feature after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
